Thanks to generous funding from Halton Region and the Junior Farmers Association of Ontario, we are pleased to offer the pilot program of Ag in the Aisles. We have chosen to offer this event on a scheduled P.A. Day, with the hopes of attracting occasional teachers who will not be teaching on that day. However any available contract/permanent teachers are welcome to register.
Please find below an outline of the Ag in the Aisles © event which OAFE is planning:
Who: Teachers (Occasional, contract, permanent) (limit of 20 spots)
When: 3 February 2012 (approximately 8:30am-2:30pm)
Where: Milton, Ontario (Country Heritage Park & Real Canadian Superstore Milton)
- Free P.D. Session for teachers (including transportation to and from the grocery store and a delicious lunch)
- Opportunity to ask questions and learn facts about food and agriculture
- Provision of free curriculum-linked resources and tools to bring important agri-food messages into the classroom
Do you have social science research activities that are engaging your students? Are your students thinking critically and creatively? Join Linda as she shares ideas, culminating tasks, rubrics, resources and much more to aid in integrating social science research into everyday classroom use.
This session will identify law-related links in the family studies curriculum, and highlight resources for teaching about child protection, child support, family violence and children's rights.
