KEYNOTE SPEAKER - Marcel Danesi

Marcel Danesi, Professor of Semiotics and Linguistic Anthropology at the University of Toronto, is an expert in the field of youth culture and subcultures. He is the author of several books on youth culture, including "Cool: The Signs and Meanings of Adolescence" and "Geeks, Goths, and Gangstas: Perspectives on Youth Culture." From the advent of rock and roll, through the hippie movement, punk, goth, hip-hop, and everything in between, youth culture has transformed the world. Racial relations, gender roles, sexuality, and the aging process have all been affected by youth culture. Marcel Danesi offers a fresh outlook on the history and impact of today's young people.
